Malkhamb, Sanskrit and Sangeet Workshop (22nd may to 5th June 2023)
1) Malkhambh Training :
To make aware and learn the young mind about the Indian traditional sport (Malkhamb also known as Indian Gymnast), a team of 13 students with our Pathshala teacher went Ujjain for learning and practising the basics of Malkhamb. The objective behind sending the students is to promote the sports facilities in their village and to provide the platform to the Vidyarthi so that they can learn and practise the Indian sport. These kids are grown up in village atmosphere having no facilities of sports. Palan Sewa Foundation believes that when these kids are provided with proper facilities of sports at their footsteps, a huge potential which is hidden behind them can be excelled. Palan Pathshala is running over there since February, in which we realise the need for sports in this basti. Therefore, we had discussed same with Dronacharya awardee Mr. Yogesh Malviya and finally Palan sent students from two villages for learning Malkhamb under him.
By providing the students with the platform to learn and practice Malkhamb, Palan Sewa Foundation is not only promoting the sport but also nurturing the talents and potential of these young minds. Sports play a crucial role in the overall development of children, providing them with physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and valuable life skills. By introducing Malkhamb to the students, they are exposed to an ancient Indian sport that combines gymnastics, strength, and flexibility. Palan Sewa Foundation working towards creating opportunities and facilities for sports in rural areas, where such resources may be limited. By providing sports facilities at their doorstep, these students have a chance to excel and showcase their hidden potential.
Palan Sewa Foundation applaud the efforts of Mr. Yogesh Malviya for their commitment to promoting traditional Indian sports and empowering the youth through sports. The students who participated in the Malkhamb training in Ujjain will not only excel in the sport but also inspire others in their village to embrace and participate in various sports activities.
2) Sangeet and Sanskrit :
Palan Pathshala are not only learning sports but also getting the opportunity to learn Sanskrit and Sangeet (Indian classical music) from experts in those fields. Integrating various disciplines like sports, language, and music can provide a well-rounded education and enrich the learning experience for the students.
Sanskrit, as an ancient language, holds immense cultural and historical significance in India. By teaching Sanskrit in a simple and interactive manner, the teachers are helping the students develop an appreciation for the language and its heritage. Speaking Sanskrit can enhance their linguistic abilities, improve their pronunciation, and deepen their understanding of Indian culture and traditions.
Similarly, learning Sangeet can expose the students to the beauty and richness of Indian classical music. It can help them develop an ear for melody, rhythm, and expression. Studying Sangeet can also foster creativity and self-expression, while promoting teamwork and collaboration if they engage in group performances or music ensembles.
By providing expert guidance in Sanskrit and Sangeet, the teachers are nurturing the students’ talents and giving them a holistic education. These additional learning opportunities not only contribute to their intellectual development but also promote cultural preservation and appreciation.
I hope that the students at Palan Pathshala continue to learn and grow, both in sports and in their exploration of Sanskrit and Sangeet, and that these experiences enrich their lives and open doors to new opportunities.
